If
you are walking down the wide corridors of L.S.R. chances are that you
will hear the sounds of music in rhythm and in sync. Sometimes it may
be a solo singer, her voice carrying above the surging crowd, or a
whole group, with their incredible harmonies coming through strong and
clear. The music itself varies throughout the year: Jazz, Gospel, Pop,
Broadway, anything that seeks to challenge the potential of this
society and anything that allows them to experiment with their talent.
Occasionally you will hear the sound of the keyboard, guitar,
saxophone, perhaps even a flute. Any instrument is possible; it is
simply a question of being there at the right time. You will hear
these same sounds creating enthusiastic music in the inter-college
competitions and their talent is, of course, rewarded by victory. This
has been the pattern for the past three years.
When
you meet the members in person you are likely to be overwhelmed by
their crazy enthusiasm and their often-brilliant talent. You’ll find
yourself slipping into the system, playing and singing with the same
gusto. Their slight insanity is as contagious as their laughter and
they will become a part of your life as they will become a part of
your for music is as essential as the air you breathe. It is at that
exact moment, when the energy draws you in, that you become a part of
this society… So welcome!
