The Society for the Promotion of
Indian Classical Music Amongst Youth (SPICMACAY) was founded in 1977.
It is a non-profit, voluntary, political and participatory student
movement. It establishes education through the spread and appreciation
of the Indian classical heritage.
The essential character that
distinguishes SPICMACAY from other cultural organisations is that it
only focuses on educational institutions. The workforce, which is
entirely voluntary, consists mainly of the student fraternity.
The ethos of SPICMACAY is realised
through its logo the vertical eye - the inner eye,
representing perception and enquiry, is alert to the pursuit of truth.
The society has a central executive
body and a national advisory body in New Delhi
