SOCIETIES - DANCE SOCIETY

The Dance Society of LSR is a forum, which brings together various dance forms – from the allatipurs of the Shane and pirouettes from the traditional, from Rajasthani Ghoomar to the contemporary forum – you will experience it all here. If attendance were to be given for after college hours (instead of during college!!), Dance Soc members would never face a problem!! Our practice hours are long and grueling but extremely rewarding.

A string of successes has attached a lot of prestige to Dance Society membership, making it one of the most connected and sought after.

Dance Soc is not only about hard work and dedication but also about creativity and fun. The wide range of workshops conducted during the session further adds to this. Eminent personalities like Mr. Santosh Nair, Mr. Gilles, Shiamak Dawar have helped to continue the tradition of Dance Soc as a dynamic nexus of talent.

ACTIVITIES 2006-2007

The Dance Society won prizes at several inter-college events. The Choreography Team won the first prize at competitions held at Lady Irwin College, College of Business Studies, Hansraj College, and Netaji Subhash Institute of Technology. At the College for Business Studies apart from winning the Best Team prize, the LSR choreography team also won the prize for best theme interpretation. The team came second at TARANG and stood third at the IIT, Delhi festival.

The Western Dance Team secured the first position at the Lady Hardinge College Festival and was placed third at TARANG. The combined Choreo and Western Dance Team won the competition at Kirori Mal College and came second at the Amity School of Business Studies.

Charu Joshi won the first prize in Classical Dance at BITS, Pilani, Jesus and Mary College, Kamala Nehru College, Lady Irwin College, Janki Devi College and LSR. Arushi Sen was placed second at Kamala Nehru College and third at Jesus and Mary College and LSR.
