The
Department of Mathematics is inspired by the belief that numbers are fun. Its
pedagogical practices include informal classroom interactions, paper
presentations, quizzes and wallpapers which enable students to explore the
fascinating world of mathematics.
The
inter-college mathematics meet HORIZON organized by the Department is the most
eagerly awaited annual event for mathematics undergraduates in the University.
Its journal TERMINUS A QUO provides a forum for students to highlight
both the historical context of mathematics and its contemporary relevance.
The
Department provides a strong foundation in the field of computers, operations
research, statistics and modern mathematics. Faculty members have been specially
invited by the State Council for Education Research and Training to author
textbooks for school curricula. Graduate students have a varied range of career
choices - management, the civil services, banking and research in diverse fields
such as space dynamics and medicine.
The
Department also offers a very popular short-term certificate course entitled
Mathematical Tools in DecisionMaking for Managers. |
