The LSR Department of Economics has an enviable reputation. The Department encourages analytical thinking and a pragmatic approach to economic problems. In addition to providing a strong foundation in economic theory, the focus is also on issues specific to the Indian context. The annual academic meet EQUIPOISE provides a forum for students to interact with foremost economists in the country. The LSR Department of Economics has an ongoing interaction with the CII (Confederation of Indian Industry), World Bank (India) and students from LSR participate in various youth seminars conducted by the Bank. Economics students have won laurels for the college not just in inter-college paper presentations but even at the international level by presenting prize-winning papers. Graduating students obtain admission in prestigious management institutes. Many others find placements with blue-chip companies such as GE, McKinsey, Ernst and Young and HLL.
