The Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.EI.Ed.) is a four-year integrated professional programme of elementary teacher education aimed at fulfilling the need for professionally qualified elementary school teachers. Its multi-disciplinary emphasis is the hallmark of the programme. Through a fruitful combination of theory and practicum courses in the first three years, the programme culminates with a direct experience of school functioning, teaching practice and reflection in the final year. The student-teacher who emerges from this programme is competent, confident, child-friendly and socially and politically conscious. The Department draws faculty members from diverse disciplines who are equipped with skills that break the boundaries of their parent disciplines to incorporate the pedagogy and praxis of education.

The annual academic meet SEHAR provides a unique platform for students to participate in discussions and creative activities related to the discipline. The B.EI.Ed. degree opens up a wide range of professional and academic options such as teaching in schools, heading elementary school systems in various capacities and teaching and research in government and non-government sectors.
