Important Dates for Admission - 2007- 2008
Admission to CTPB Programme- 2007- 2009
-
Please fill in the
application form
for admission to LSR College. The
name on the application form must tally with the name on the Date of
Birth Certificate. The application form and fee structure are
available in the new Prospectus which will be available at the College
from 01 June 2007 onwards. The cost of the Prospectus is Rs. 200/-
only. (Add Rs.100/- postal charges if required to be sent by post in
India). The applicants may download the application form
from the link given at the bottom of the page. Please read
the instructions at the end of the form and also the LSR Reference Codes for
various courses and subjects.

You can indicate your preference for 3 courses on each form. There
are two sets of reference codes; one for subjects studied in Class 12
and another for the courses you wish to apply for. Fill in all the
subjects you are applying for with the correct code marking as
indicated in the application form.

We suggest you fill in the marks of all the subjects you have
studied in the last qualifying examination, even though the admission
list is prepared on the basis of English and three best elective
subjects. Along with English, you can include a second language to
calculate your ‘best four total’ provided the mark sheet states
clearly that the second language is an elective course.

LSR will display the first cut-off list as per the date announced by
the University. If your name appears on that list, check the date and
time allotted for your interaction with the admission in-charge of
your department. The applicant has to personally present herself to
the admission in-charge for the interaction.

All admissions will be provisional and subject to confirmation by
the University of Delhi.
-
On admission, candidates
are required to submit all original certificates on the same day and
pay the fees in cash. The candidates must submit the following
original documents along with one attested photocopy of each at the
time of taking admission:

Date of Birth certificate or Secondary School or equivalent
Examination Certificate clearly stating the date of birth.

Original Mark-sheet issued by the Board / University.
-
Character Certificate from the Head of Institution last attended.

Two passport size
photographs should be pasted on the College Enrolment Form and another
submitted to the office on the day of the interaction after the
admission is finalised. Attestation by the principal of school/college
or by a gazetted officer with his/her office stamp will be accepted.

SC/ST certificates wherever applicable.
Original documents will be retained by the college. In case a
candidate withdraws the original certificates, her admission will
stand cancelled. In case a candidate requires the original
certificates for a few days for any reason, she should meet the
S O (Admin) with a written request and take permission for the
same.

WRITTEN TESTTEST
-
There will be a written test for English and Journalism. Students
applying for these subjects should check the notice board for
information and complete the registration formalities for the tests
according to the schedule displayed. A flyer appended to the bulletin
has more information.

Formalities to be completed for the test –
-
All students wishing to be considered for the written test have to
apply on the college admission form only.
-
Both English and Journalism departments have a separate eligibility
criteria for applying to take the test (Please
see Guidelines for Evaluation of Merit 2007-2008). Thereafter, on the basis of
applications, the departments will come out with a list of candidates
who are eligible to take the test. Please see the College Notice Board for the date on
which the list of eligible applicants will be displayed.

The applicants selected to appear for the test have to
REGISTER IN
PERSON. Parents/guardians will not be allowed in the college building on that
day. For the registration you need:

Two passport size photographs
-
Registration fees
-
Original marks sheet that will only be used to verify your marks
and will not be retained by the college.

The date for the test will be notified on the
College Notice Board. (Please see Important Dates for Admission)

The test results will be displayed on the same day as the first
cut-off list. Selected applicants will be called for interaction, as
is the case for all other courses. Subsequent procedure also remains
the same. However in the case of Journalism, those who clear the
written test might also be required to appear for an Interview.
ADMISSION TO CTPB
PROGRAMME
2007-2009
The applications forms for
the CTPB Programme 2007-2009 are available at the College from 15 May
to 25 June 2007. Completed application forms should be submitted

ADMISSION TO M.A./ M.COM.
Admission to the M.A./M.Com. Course is done through the respective
Faculty of
Arts/ Commerce, University of Delhi. The college offers the following
subjects at the Post-Graduation level: English, Hindi, Mathematics,
Statistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sanskrit,
History and Commerce. Students seeking admission to such courses are
first required to register themselves with the Faculty of Arts /
Commerce. The College will receive applications only from those
students who have registered themselves and obtained an admission slip
from the respective Faculties. Further information may be obtained
either from the office of the University Department concerned or the
respective Faculty of Arts / Commerce of the University.
DECLARATION
On admission, every student of the college is required to sign a
declaration
that she submits herself to the disciplinary jurisdiction of the
Vice-Chancellor
and the personnel of the University and the College who may be vested
with the authority to exercise discipline under the Acts, Statutes,
Ordinances and Rules of the University / College. Each student will be
given a handbook containing the rules and regulations of the college.

ORIENTATION
The orientation is an invaluable introduction that provides an insight
into the functioning of the college before the start of teaching. It
is designed to make entrants feel more at home in their new
environment. Attendance at the orientation is compulsory. Do make sure
that you check the date for orientation day on the day of admission.
MIGRATION
Migration to this college is normally not permissible in any year.
ENTRANCE TO THE SECOND YEAR
No direct admission in the second year is permissible by the
University of Delhi.
SPECIAL CATEGORIES
Candidates belonging to SC/ST and children or widows of officers and
men of the armed forces killed or disabled in action or on duty are
required to get their names registered at the main building of the
University of Delhi. (DU website:

LSR welcomes students with special needs and within logistical
constraints tries to provide every help to facilitate their years in
college. We also offer a number of freeships and scholarships on the
basis of merit and need.
GAP YEAR CASES
Students who have had a gap in their education must bring
any documents such as admission slips, admit cards etc. in
original, for any
examination taken or certificates of courses attended in the gap
period, to be eligible for admission to the undergraduate course for
which they qualify. Such students should meet the S O (Admin).
OVERSEAS STUDENTS
LSR welcomes students from all over the world and provides them an
enriching context to pursue higher studies. There are two categories
of overseas students:

Students of foreign/Indian nationality clearing their last
examination under a foreign board.
-
Students of Indian nationality clearing their last examination under
an Indian board.
FOREIGN BOARD (Foreign/Indian Nationality)
Students of foreign/Indian nationality who have taken their last
examination under a foreign board are advised to get in touch with the
Foreign Student Advisor, University of Delhi, to obtain a letter
certifying:

Eligibility

Validity of applicant’s student or long-term visa
-
Equivalence of applicant’s grade with Indian Boards
Applicants should have completed this formality by end May/early June.
To gain admission:
-
Students taking the International Baccalaureate or the 'A' level
examinations of the GCE are required to have their confidential
results posted to the Principal as soon as possible in order to meet
the deadlines for application.
-
All students have to meet the required cut-off percentages of the
course applied for.
4% will be deducted from the aggregate score for every vocational
subject studied
(For details on negative weightage and list of vocational subjects,
please refer to ‘Guidelines for Evaluation of Merit
2007-2008').
-
Students who have passed the General Certificate Examination (GCE)
require at least three ‘O’ level and two ‘A’ level papers. Their
grades will be converted to percentages as per equivalence provided by
University guidelines.
-
For students who have appeared from the International Baccalaureate,
the University provides guidelines to determine equivalence of their
grades with Indian Boards’.
-
For students who have graduated from the American High School System
equivalence will be worked out on the basis of SAT scores. In
exceptional cases students who have maintained an ‘A’ grade can also
be considered for admission. Subjects studied should include English
and four others, not more than two of which should be in the same
area.
-
For any other Board the University equivalence will have to be
obtained from the office of the Registrar, University of Delhi.
-
The college may also conduct test and interview to evaluate the
suitability of any student who has appeared in a non-Indian Board
examination.
-
On being provisionally admitted, foreign nationality students have
to obtain a valid medical certificate from the National Institute of
Communicable Diseases, Delhi. If the certificate is not produced
within a month, the admission stands cancelled. Admission formalities for this category will be completed only after
admissions in the general category.

INDIAN BOARD (Foreign Nationality)
Students of foreign nationality who have passed their last examination
under an Indian Board should get in touch with the Foreign Students

payment of additional fees.
They must apply for admission to college and meet the eligibility
criteria along with the general category of students within the time
stipulated for admissions. All rules for general admissions apply to
them.
SPORTS CATEGORY
A Committee constituted by the College will decide admission on the
basis of sports. The Committee will hold interviews and trials as per
the Evaluation Chart of the University of Delhi. Refer to the appended
leaflet for the trial dates. The last date for submission of sports
form is 15th June. The level of competence in the sport will be
determined on the basis of distinction achieved only within the last
three years.
Please attach copies of the following with the form:
i. Character certificate from the institution last attended.
ii. Certificate of the last qualifying examination passed.
iii. Mark-sheet on the basis of which admission is sought.
iv. Date of Birth certificate or Secondary School or equivalent
Examination Certificate clearly stating the date of birth.
v. Documents in support of achievement in the sport on the basis of
which admission is sought. COPIES OF ALL SUCH
DOCUMENTS AND A
PHOTOGRAPH OF THE SPORTSPERSON SHOULD BE ATTESTED BY THE PRINCIPAL OF THE INSTITUTION LAST ATTENDED.
vi. Other relevant documents such as SC/ST certificates.
vii. A certificate of physical fitness signed by a registered medical
practitioner.
viii. Details of any scholarships the applicant has availed of in the
past three years.

EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES (ECA)
A Committee constituted by the college will decide admission on the
basis of ECA. Date for the trials and interviews will be put up on the
college notice board. This date is usually after the general
admissions are over. Candidates are therefore advised not to rely on
their qualifying in the trials and to secure admission wherever they
can.
You need to attach copies of the following with the ECA form:
i. Character certificate from the institution last attended.
ii. Certificate of the last qualifying examination passed.
iii. Mark-sheet on the basis of which admission is sought.
iv. Date of Birth certificate or Secondary School or equivalent
Examination Certificate clearly stating the date of birth.
v. A letter of recommendation from the Principal of the school last
attended clearly giving details of activities participated in.
The
Principal should also express his/her opinion on the extent to which
the candidate might be able to contribute to the cultural life of the
college.
vi. Documents in support of achievement in ECA on the basis of which
admission is sought. The college is especially interested in the
candidate’s participation in school activities during the last three
years.
AdmissionS
Counselling Unit
The
admissions process will start in the first week of June. There will
be a counter set up in the college during the admission period to
provide general assistance to the applicants. However, from
Thursday, 1st June, 2007 onwards, an Admissions Counseling Unit will
be set up to answer questions and give general guidance regarding
admissions.
This counselling Unit will operate between 9:30 am - 1:00 pm and
2:30 pm - 4 pm in Room
number 8. Parents/Guardians are also welcome at this counter.
