Structure of Evaluation

Attendance and Internal Assessment

Attendance requirements are very strictly adhered to at LSR. Students of professional courses such as Journalism and Elementary Education are required to attend 75% of the total lectures and tutorials separately in theory and practical to appear for the University Examination. Students of all other courses are required to complete 66.6% of the total lectures and tutorials separately in theory and practical, in both main and concurrent course papers, to appear for the University Examination. For detailed information, students are advised to read the Student Handbook carefully.

University Evaluation

Successful candidates for courses other than Elementary Education and Journalism will be classified on the combined results of Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 examinations as follows:

First Division

60% or above marks in the aggregate

Second Division

50% to below 60% in the aggregate

Third Division

40% to below 50% in case of B.A. Hons./B.Com. Hons./ M.A.

Twenty-five percent of the total marks in a course, in both main and concurrent, are awarded on the basis of continuous internal assessment. This break up is as follows:

75% University Examination

25% Internal Assessment as follows:

10% Assignment including Project Work

10% House Examination

 5% Regularity in Attendance

  • In case of a 50-mark paper percentages will be accordingly scaled down.

  • Students failing at the end of the first or second or third year examinations will not be readmitted. Only students who pass or are promoted to the second/third year will be allowed to continue in the second/third year of the college.
